A native of San Francisco, Michael Munoz realized he was quite passionate about cooking at the young age of 17 and began working in all sorts of restaurants throughout the City. His early career inspired him to put every penny earned towards pursuing his dream of attending culinary school at California Culinary Academy. It was during his time at CCA that Chef Michael blended his enthusiasm for healthy living with his perfected culinary talents and created a style of cooking that is satiating and healthful.

Chef Michael came to The City Club of San Francisco in 2003 as the Executive Chef, hailing from Moose's Restaurant in North Beach. Having always been a restaurant chef, he admits that in the past he'd "turned his nose up at private clubs." In no time at all, he enthusiastically proved that he was capable of meshing well with The City Club, a private Club well-known for outstanding cuisine.

His imaginative menus reflect seasonal, regional American cuisine incorporating market fresh delicacies and sustainable organically-farmed products. Over the years, Members and guests have raved about his healthy and flavorful dishes. Chef Michael makes it known that, "flavor is never sacrificed for the sake of healthy cooking." Those who have had the pleasure of enjoying his meals know that he can cook with butter and foie gras just like the best of them in this wonderful "foodie" City!
